Benchmark indices opened higher Today, only to erase gains, despite firm global cues.
At 9:50 am, the BSE Sensex was trading 220 points lower at 35,805. Nifty50 was at 10,716, down by 64 points.
Most Asian markets were up as a deal was reached to reopen the US government following a prolonged shutdown.
Shares of Zee Entertainment jumped over 14 % trade after the company said it has reached a deal with lenders on pledged shares. The scrip rose 14.29 % to hit a high of Rs 365 on BSE. Dish TVNSE -4.24 % shares were up 1.11 % at Rs 22.85.
Among Sensex stocks, L&T gained 2.95 % to Rs 1323.50. TCS, Asian Paints, HCL Tech and Hindustan Unilever added 1.66 %, 0.87 %, 0.67 % and 0.48 %, respectively.
YES Bank fell 2.46 % to Rs 214.25. Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, ICICI BankNSE -2.84 % and Bajaj Finance fell up to 1.85 %.
Bank of India, Canara Bank, CEAT, Escorts, Godrej Industries, RBL Bank, Tata Power, Piramal Enterprises, Persistent Systems NSE 1.25 %, Praj Industries and TTK Prestige will be among companies, and they will announce their December quarter results Today.
"We are still hovering around the pullback zone of Falling Trend Line. But the way some of the stocks corrected on Friday, certainly does not bode well for the bulls. As far as levels are concerned, 10,750 followed by 10,692 would be seen as a crucial support zone. A sustainable move below this would result into a sharp correction," said by Expert.
